Never feel down about your voice
The greatest part about your voice is that it is unique to you and only you can boast having it. People can try to imitate it or have it sound similar to but it is only a copy. Your voice is special and if you hone it, practice it, and of course…USE IT…it shall become a pleasure to hear. Yours will be within a plethora of other unique and beautiful voices that come together in a whirling symphony of delightful dialogue.
I’ve had to tell myself this because I sometimes feel down about how I have an inferior voice…it couldn’t be farther from the truth. My voice is unique and it is my gift for all of you so you can be entertained and be inspired. Please never think of yours as anything but a gift.
We are simply evolving to become better at using these glorious pipes. LET US SPEAK FURTHER ON INTO THE FUTURE, MY FRIENDS!
(EDIT: In terms of grammar though some of us could get better…man this is a mess of a post)
Yeahhhh! Positivity! I hated my voice for a long time but I’ve grown to love it in all its uniqueness and so have other people!
So, You Want To Make An Advice Blog.
Momma has gotten a lot of asks about people that want to either join the Sea Family, or make their own advice blog. Here is what Momma has to say:
- Can you survive?
Momma has a mission for you. Tumblr is a place with many, many, people. And those people can have some pretty heavy problems.
That is a link to Blahtherapy.com. Momma often sends people there if they need someone to talk to. She also still spends time there as a listener.
Go to that site. Be a listener there for two hours. Can you handle it? Helping people in need is very trying and difficult. It takes up a lot of energy and time. If you cannot handle this, you may not want to make an advice blog.
- Why do you want to start?
If you want to make an advice blog as a get-rich-quick scheme, don’t. Only start one if you honestly and really want to help people. Momma has actually seen a few people do this.
- Make a creed. Stick to it.
Before you make the blog, choose a creed or motto for your blog. If you need something to fall back on, it’s very useful. A creed is just a basic rule. How are you going to make your blog?
For example, Momma’s creed is “This is a safe space. Love, not hate. The only enemy is ignorance.” Your creed might be a bit different. It might be “Brutal honesty.” or “Make people laugh.”
- Remember to care about yourself.
Like Momma has said, advice blogs are very difficult. They take a lot of energy and emotion to run.
You need to think and love yourself, too. Ask yourself a few questions before starting an advice blog.
- Is your own mental health stable enough to take it?
- Are you going to be able to give good advice?
- Are you going to be able to take criticism, and hate?
- Do you know yourself well enough to be able to give others advice?
Remember to take care of yourself. If you need to take a break, take a break.
This isn’t the be all and end all, these are just some tips that Momma came up with for aspiring advice bloggers!
